The Big Day!

5:24 AM. It's been both an amazing and agonizing week-and in many ways I hope that nobeody else ever has to go through it. But it's kind of an adventure too. It's 27 degrees outside with very little wind, and we're only about 6 or 7 blocks from the hospital so we're walking. I always look forward to a nice walk through Philly, though I must say that at this time of the morning I'm not feeling it as much. But I imagine that waking up is always the worst part.

  2. Brian, I just learned of your misfortune this morning. You're probably under the knife at the moment, but my thoughts, prayers, and intentions are for a sucessful operation and a speedy recovery. Take good care! I know that you are in multiple good hands.

  3. Brian, you made it through surgery like a champ! I know it's going to be a tough mountain to climb, but there's no doubt in my mind you'll conquer this beast with all of your strength and courage. We love you so much, and will continue to pray everyday for you and Amanda. Wish we could give you both big hugs and kisses, so we're sending them by air! (-:

    Love Always,

Nicole, Stephen, Elijah, Adriana, and Joey

  4. Brian, You don't know me, but I just received email today from Meghan about your surgery. I immediately began sending you lots of positive energy for a successful surgery and great recovery. I also had the unbelievable experience of a massive seizure, with diagnosis of Esthesioneuroblastoma. Had craniofacial surgery almost 8 yrs ago (tumor had penetrated my brain) & subsequent neck dissection year later, with lots of chemo & radiation involved. I won't go into details & Tom can update you. I look a little different and may act a little different, but I figure, that's what keeps me alive & young! It's amazing how Dilantin & Keppra give me that latex feeling to keep those seizures under control.
Thank you for creating this blog to keep all your friends, family & associates updated on your progress. Your energy & positive attitude are your best attributes right now. All my love to you & your family for a quick recovery, and remember, keep living & loving life to make it to 100 years old!!

  5. Brian! So.. I'm still on a lot of Penn Law mailing lists haha, which up until the new year continued to slightly annoy me but not enough to actually do anything about it (the delete button is so much more convenient than finding out who I need to contact, you know?) Anyway, I still get CLS emails and you probably know Jonathan Ellis has been sending out updates. I've been praying for you and I'm so glad to know your surgery went well! Jonathan linked this blog and now I have a better source of stalking you from across the country =) I wish all the best for you and Amanda!
